Alastair Scott Dickinson CBE - AECOM

Alastair Dickinson joined AECOM in Mar 17 from the Board of the British Army. Retiring early as a Major General after 36 years’ service, Alastair now works within the Nuclear and Energy division of AECOM. His Army career saw active duty and service across the globe including: the Falkland Islands, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, Southern Turkey, Northern Ireland, Brunei, Kenya, Canada, Norway and Germany. He commanded troops at all levels up to brigade command and instructed twice at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Alastair spent a year studying at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Toronto and he has extensive experience working alongside NATO, UN, US forces and all '5 eyes' nations. Away from the front line, Alastair amassed just under 10 years in the pressured environment of the central resource and plans department of the UK Ministry of Defence. It was for his work in this area that, in 2015, he was appointed Commander of the British Empire. From 2014-2017, Alastair was the Army Board member responsible for basing and infrastructure; essentially managing an annual spend of c£1.5Bn to develop, deliver and operate the Army’s £7-10Bn estate.. Alastair is a graduate of the Major Project Leadership Academy, Said Business School, Oxford University and is an accredited and practicing assessor for UK Government’s Gateway Review process.
